Located in Washington County, 45 minutes south of Pittsburgh & a quick 1/4 mile north of I-70, there are plenty of surrounding attractions:
The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has a Welcome & Education Center, a collection of historic railway cars, trolley signage & the original clock from Pittsburgh's Penn Station. Take the 4-mile interurban ride & the 1-mile loop excursion on one of the fully restored antique trolleys.
Visit Hollywood Casino at The Meadows for live table games, slot machines, live Standardbred-horse harness racing, restaurants & more.
Flock to several family farms for cider sippin', pumpkin pickin', corn mazes, hayrides, pumpkin corn hole, apple launching & fall treats.
Take a scenic scavenger hunt to find 23 charming, historic covered bridges.
Park at McDonald Trail Station & History Center, & bike or walk both the 29-mile paved Panhandle & 23-mile Montour Rail Trails.
Many wineries, breweries & distilleries provide tasting rooms & snack foods. Sarris Candies has chocolates, candies & an old-fashioned ice cream parlor. The Crafty Alpaca Farm Store has tours, demonstrations & unique handmade items.
Pine Cove RV Resort offers level, lake-front, 50-amp, full hook-up sites. $50 per nite; $45 for Good Sam Club members. I have either site #21 or #38. Call (724) 239-2900 or (724) 678-6849 or (724) 350-0990 to reserve.
